CVTL Conducts Refresher Training on Enhanced Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment – EVCA

From February 20-21, 2025, the Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) Manufahi and Ainaro branches, in collaboration with the CVTL National Headquarters (NHQ) team and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) representative in Timor-Leste, conducted a refresher training on EVCA : Enhanced Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment. The training, attended by 21 participants (10 women and 11 men), aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of CVTL staff and volunteers.

Ms. Elisabeth Belo, ICBRR Project Manager, emphasized the importance of EVCA : Enhanced Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment through improved assessment techniques. She highlighted that the training would equip participants with essential tools to better evaluate risks and vulnerabilities in their respective communities.

During the opening session, Mr. Macario Santos, IFRC representative in Timor-Leste, underscored the significance of the training in ensuring that CVTL personnel are well-versed in evaluation methodologies and concepts. He stated that the initiative would enable staff and volunteers to effectively implement community action plans and respond to challenges with greater efficiency.

The refresher training was made possible with support from the Integrated Community-Based Risk Reduction (ICBRR) program, funded by the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Korean-MOFA) trough the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). This initiative reflects a continuous effort to empower local communities and strengthen disaster preparedness in Timor-Leste.
