From February 18 to 20, 2025, the CVTL Bobonaro Branch organized a training program to enhance the capacity for managing temporary housing in emergency situations. The training aimed to strengthen the skills of volunteers and emergency responders in providing safe and dignified shelter for displaced communities affected by disasters.
The opening ceremony was led by Mrs. Sandra Coreia, CVTL Bobonaro Branch Coordinator; Mr. Eujevio Fernandes da Cruz, Commander of the Bombeiros (Fire Brigade); and Mr. Dinis Gomes, Shelter Trainer. A total of 28 participants, including CVTL volunteers from Ermera, Liquiça, and Bobonaro branches, as well as staff from the Bombeiros and the Civil Protection Authority (APC) of Bobonaro Municipality, took part in the program. The group comprised 13 females and 15 males.
Mrs. Sandra Coreia emphasized that the training was essential to ensuring the safety and dignity of affected communities while enhancing CVTL’s emergency response capabilities. Meanwhile, Mr. Eujevio Fernandes da Cruz expressed gratitude to CVTL for its continuous support, stating that the training would help Bombeiros and APC staff improve their knowledge in emergency response and shelter management.
This important initiative was made possible through funding from the Chronic Crisis program of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
The training reflects CVTL’s ongoing commitment to strengthening disaster response efforts and ensuring adequate shelter for those in need.
