Dili, 20 July 2024 – Volunteers from the Dili Branch of the Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL), alongside facilitators from the CVTL National Headquarters Health Department, conducted a successful health and hygiene promotion event at KOICA/FC Dezenvolve. This initiative aimed to educate and raise awareness among students about essential hygiene practices.
The primary focus of the program was to highlight the significance of washing hands with soap and ensuring access to safe, clean water. These fundamental hygiene practices are crucial in preventing the spread of diseases and promoting overall health. The event reached a total of 210 students, comprising 100 females and 110 males, equipping them with vital knowledge and skills to maintain personal and communal hygiene.
During the session, volunteers and facilitators engaged the students through interactive demonstrations and educational activities. These methods were designed to make the learning process both informative and enjoyable, reinforcing the importance of incorporating these hygiene practices into their daily routines. The hands-on approach ensured that the students could practically apply the techniques being taught.
This initiative is part of CVTL’s ongoing efforts to improve public health standards and build a healthier future for Timor-Leste. By targeting young students, the organization hopes to instill lasting habits that will contribute to the well-being of the entire community. The success of this event highlights the positive impact of collaborative efforts between local volunteers and health experts.
