From 5–8 June 2025, the CVTL Bobonaro Branch, in collaboration with the TILOFE team, local volunteers, the Village Disaster Risk Management Commission (KJRDS), and community members, carried out a vital water conservation campaign in the villages of Futatas, Delian, Bau Delian, and Fuer Koi Wen in Bobonaro Municipality. This initiative focused on raising awareness and constructing essential infrastructure to help communities better manage water resources amid increasing climate-related challenges.
The primary goal of the activity was to protect and sustain natural water springs, which are under threat due to prolonged dry seasons and unpredictable rainfall patterns driven by climate change. By building water conservation structures such as rainwater catchments and constructing two wells, the initiative promotes long-term water availability. These structures play a critical role in storing rainwater and ensuring a sustainable water supply during periods of scarcity.
A total of 50 community members 22 women and 28 men actively participated in the construction using a group work system. Their strong engagement and cooperation reflected a deep commitment to safeguarding their water resources. This community-driven effort was supported by the American Red Cross (AmCross), highlighting the importance of partnership and local ownership in building climate resilience.
