Dili, November 29, 2024 – The Timor-Leste Red Cross (CVTL), in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), successfully conducted a five-day Advanced First Aid Training for First Aid Trainers from November 25 to 29, 2024. The training took place in Dare, Dili Municipality, equipping participants with critical life-saving skills and advanced knowledge to train others in first aid and respond effectively to emergencies.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. João Martins Alves, the ICRC representative, emphasized the importance of the program. “This intensive program equips participants with the knowledge and skills to provide first aid training, offer immediate assistance in emergencies, contribute to the chain of survival, and improve outcomes in critical situations,” he stated. His remarks highlighted the transformative impact such training has on community resilience and preparedness.
The program saw active participation from 16 individuals, comprising 5 women and 11 men, as well as 2 observers from 13 CVTL branches across Timor-Leste. Led by three experienced facilitators, the training combined insightful theoretical instruction with practical demonstrations, ensuring participants could confidently translate their learning into real-world application.
Ms. Elizabeth Glorita Belo, CVTL First Aid Manager, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated trainers and facilitators. “Your insightful instruction, practical demonstrations, and patient guidance have empowered the participants. Your expertise plays a crucial role in building stronger, safer communities ready to respond to emergencies. Thank you!” she remarked.
