Lautem, 26-27 June & 5 July 2024 – The Lautem branch of the Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) has actively engaged with the community and students in Aelafa Hamlet, Daudere Village, and EBC Odofuro, Afabubo Village, to disseminate crucial information on health prevention, specifically targeting Dengue and Rabies. These sessions were part of a broader initiative to enhance public health knowledge and safety in Lautem Municipality.
The primary goal of these informative sessions was to increase awareness among community members and students about the transmission and prevention of Dengue and Rabies. Through these activities, CVTL Lautem aimed to equip the locals with the necessary knowledge to protect themselves and their families from these diseases, which pose significant health risks in the region.
Over the course of the three-day outreach, a total of 443 individuals benefited from the health education provided by CVTL Lautem. This included 231 males and 212 females, encompassing 70 households. The comprehensive reach of the program underscores the commitment to ensuring that both men and women, as well as entire families, receive valuable health information.
This vital health awareness campaign was made possible through the financial support of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), facilitated by the Secretary of State for Environment and the National Designated Authority (AND, I.P). The collaboration highlights the importance of international and national partnerships in promoting public health and preventing the spread of infectious diseases in Timor-Leste.
