CVTL and PMI provided a 4-day training in strengthening the capacity of the Red Cross volunteer members to be able in providing First Aid assistances

27 – 30 November, 2023 Maliana, CVTL and Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI) provided a 4-day training in strengthening the capacity of the Red Cross volunteer members to be able in providing First Aid assistances to any conflicts, emergencies or disasters.

“One of the new things we learnt was how to make realistic wounds! This helps the participants confront realism when doing the simulation exercise – which helps in real life situations! Look through the photos and see how amazing they look,” commented one of the CVTL participants.

This training will be conducted by the team of experts from CVTL (2 trainers) and PMI (2 trainers) together with support from ICRC. Emphasis will be given to participatory methods such as practical exercises, group work, role plays and final simulations.

The objectives of the training included: 1) To developing the skills, knowledge and confidences by each volunteer during their time as a first aider, as well as expanding their proper techniques when providing first aid response; 2) To uniformalize the appropriate technique skills in providing first aid response; and 3) To strengthen border cooperation and collaboration through the information and experience sharing.

There were 18 participants, including six from PMI Belu/Atambua, three from Covalima, four from Bobonaro, two from Dili and three from Oecusse. The trainers were from PMI Bali and CVTL. The training was observed by CVTL Head Quarter, Branch, PMI Head Quarter and ICRC head of mission in Dili and Regional.
