December 17, 2024, Turiskai – The construction of an important water supply infrastructure is making steady progress in Mindelo Village, Turiskai Administrative Post, Manufahi Municipality. Spanning five kilometres from a natural water spring to the community’s residential area, the project is being spearheaded by the CVTL Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) team, in collaboration with the Facility Management Group (GMF) and local residents.
CVTL Manufahi Branch Coordinator, Ms. Rosalia, highlighted the collective effort driving the initiative, “CVTL doesn’t work alone; we have our technical WATSAN team to assist the community in this essential work. This project has already brought excitement among residents, who anticipate relief from years of water scarcity. However, the work is not without challenges, with poor road conditions and frequent rain hindering material transportation and construction activities,” said Ms. Rosalia.
This critical initiative is set to benefit 175 households, encompassing a total population of 826 individuals —408 females and 418 males. By improving access to clean water, the project aims to enhance the quality of life and health outcomes in the community, providing a sustainable solution to longstanding water access issues.
Funding for the project has been generously provided by IFRC-MOFA, enabling the purchase of essential materials and equipment. This support underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing infrastructure gaps in rural areas.
Once completed, the water supply system will mark a transformative moment for Mindelo Village, offering a dependable source of clean water and fostering improved living standards for generations to come.
