Dissemination Facilitators – Training in Dili, Timor-Leste

As we all know, CVTL is a humanitarian organization that works based on the 7 Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent. Our main focus is helping vulnerable communities in Timor-Leste.

Part of this work, includes our Dissemination Programme which promotes the understanding of Red Cross Movement’s Fundamental Principles, but it goes much further than that. It includes, humanitarian values, International Humanitarian Law, Red Cross, Red Crescent and CVTL Emblem and why the CVTL Emblem it is protected and has its own decree law from the government of Timor-Leste. Dissemination training, and having specific Dissemination Facilitators in each of our 13 Branches, ensures that these ideals are understood, respected and applied throughout Timor-Leste.

Spreading this related information and knowledge will strengthen CVTL as a positive and reputable organization and individual with the integrity to achieve security and safer access, especially in emergencies and sensitive situations.

From the 17-19 July, 2023, 26 volunteers and staff came from every CVTL Branch for a Training of Dissemination Facilitators. Francisco Nggadas (Fredy), from the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for Indonesia and Timor-Leste has been working with CVTL for many years and is an exceptional trainer, led the hands-on and interactive training. He focused on not just the information, but why it was important. The three-day program also drew on other staff skills from ICRC, CVTL and IFRC – and this included practical skills on how to deliver information to the community.

CVTL would like to thank the ICRC for their support for this important activity as well as all who participated.
