CVTL Meets with Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, to Discuss Youth Program Initiatives

Dili, 21 May 2024 – CVTL National Society Development and Youth Coordinator, Mr. Agapito da Silva, and School Program Officer, Sonia dos Santos Ramalho, held a productive meeting with His Excellency Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, Mr. Nelio Isaac Sarmento. The discussion focused on the CVTL’s Youth Program, which aims to enhance the capacity and knowledge of youth through various initiatives.

During the meeting, Mr. da Silva and Ms. Ramalho outlined the achievements of the CVTL Youth Program over the past year. They highlighted the program’s impact on the community, particularly in terms of engaging young people in voluntary humanitarian activities. The program has been instrumental in fostering a sense of responsibility and community service among the youth of Timor-Leste.

They also expressed their gratitude for the Minister’s support and highlighted the positive outcomes already seen from the Youth Program. They noted that the program has successfully increased youth involvement in various community service projects, ranging from disaster response to health and education initiatives. The skills and experiences gained through these activities are invaluable for the personal growth of the participants.

His Excellency Mr. Sarmento expressed his appreciation for the CVTL’s efforts. He acknowledged the significant role that such programs play in the personal and professional development of young people. The Minister emphasized the importance of supporting youth initiatives that contribute to the overall well-being and growth of the community.

Minister Sarmento agreed to participate in the 7th CVTL National Youth Assembly. The assembly is scheduled to take place in Bobonaro Municipality on 13-14 June 2024.

The National Youth Assembly serves as an important platform for CVTL’s youth to share experiences, learn from each other, and develop new skills. This year’s event will focus on enhancing leadership abilities, promoting volunteerism, and encouraging active participation in community development projects.

Youth delegates  from the all  13 CVTL branches will vote for their President and Vice President to represent them on the National Governing Board for the 2024-2026 term. The involvement of high-level officials, such as Minister Sarmento, underscores the importance of the assembly and the CVTL Youth Program.
