8 Maiu, today is World Red Cross Day – a day celebrated across the world in honour of Red Cross founding father, Henri Dunant who was born in 1828! – CVTL uses this important day to lets us give thanks to all the staff and volunteers across our country and the world – working for the vulnerable and humanity.
CVTL celebrated the day with inspiring speeches from our CVTL President Mana Madalena, IFRC – Mana Francisca and ICRC Country Representative – Maun Joao. Mana Madalena talked about the importance of working together with the community as well as the Government – for us to build a stronger country.
CVTL together with the National Hospital – set up a temporary blood donation centre in NHQ – as we know Blood is Life! There are many planned activities across the country but in several Districts they had to be postponed due to heavy rain.
2019 is also the 100th Anniversary of the International Federation of Red Cross (which CVTL is the 183rd member). #RedCrossDay #RedCrescentDay #IFRC100
